Jim Hornbeck and I made the trip over to PBH. I sailed my 6.3 and 100 liter. I think Jim was on 5.6 and 85 liter. I tried a new configuration which felt really weird - long harness lines, boom really high, and 22 cm freestyle fin. Super slippery. And I am sure I didn't have my lines set right because coming back in I couldn't point. Either way the swell was swell.
The wind picked up for about 45 minutes, for some really fast rides. I hit a ramp and as I was coming down my sail detached from the board. I determined later that the chinook clamp didn't close into the locked position. But as I hit the water my u joint hit the board and put a hole in it. Luckily Jim was only a few yards behind me and was able to go get the board which was quickly getting away from me and my rig. If he wasn't there I probably would have lost my rig swimming for the board.
Other than a hole in my favorite board the day was a keeper. Shorts, hot air, warm water, decent wind, and nice swell.
