9/13 Jordanelle 15M Cult and SUP race

I am still Jacked! Hands shaking, pumped like after a night at Fight Club. Props to Jason Morton for finishing in the money at H2o Paddle Mountain Open SUP race. Jason was on the podium in 4th place. Some pros from out of state just edged him. He was killing it on his new 18ft 6in call carbon fiber race stick. For the first mile and a haft the wind was blowing in our faces at about 12-15 mph. I rolled in behind a hot blond girl. I placed 9th. I was drafting her, if you catch my drift. So we are standing on the beach, after and Jason says "Don go get your kite and put on a show for the crowd". I have never kited Jordanelle. I herd it can get weird. So I go out with storms rolling in fast and do some jumps for the SUP peaps. It got pretty hair ball. Good fun though.

good to see. BTW, what are some good boards and connections to get started with SUP? I would also want to be able to put a sail on it. But are you finding that people are just using them for sup? Any local connections? and how is the sailing with them. He doesn't really have an 18 ft board?

Good job Don!! You really put on a show for the SUP crowd. I got kinda worked on the 18'6" flat water race board in the heavy chop and swell. I was training really hard for that race, paddling 5-10 miles a day at Daybreak, after work, in glassy conditions. So race day comes along and its windy. I would never give up a windy day to SUP, but it was race day. That board is really wobbly in chop and swell. Right off the start I bobbled and fell. I proceded to fall in about five times as I was hyperventilating and expending way too much energy. Finally I get going and look up to see 10 paddlers ahead of me. Slowly I start to pick them off one by one and was gaining good ground on the top finishers, but it just wasn't enough! All in all it was a great time. Maybe I need another board? Hmmmm. Rob- Naish makes a good SUP/Windsurf board. Starboard may as well. Jon Manwaring can get Naish stuff and that is a great hookup(and cheap). I've seen guys sail them on super-light wind days at Kanaha and make it look really good. it looks like alot of fun to me. I wish my Jimmy Lewis had a mast track!

thanks for the info. I just checked and Naish is coming out with all new lines for 2010.
