well, not kiting the entire summer was ALMOST worth it last weekend. kited at silver strand beach in san diego, well coronado really- just about 20 minutes south of downtown with traffic. wind was light- 14 mph maybe, side-onshore with perfect little play waves rolling in little medium to small sized sets for san diego. it was my first time in the ocean, and i am absolutely hooked. sea water was rolling out of nose for hours and i developed a few good sized blisters from not kiting all summer. did a few walks of shame, but otherwise it was a full on epic session all day long.

just thought i'd share this little gem of a spot since it wasn't in our backyard.

hope to see you all out there soon!

You can't go kiting unless you go to a kite spot, thats what I have been told!

Mike,

Silver Strand is a nice place to kite. The wind is rarely strong, but the waves can be nice. Glad to hear you got some...

Yah, take your big rig- and a surfboard helps sometimes, too. Also, don't go too far North, the Navy pukes get pretty picky about kites under the flight path at NASNI. Not really a big issue though, as long as you stay south of the Hotel Del (and unless you're going cross country you will), you won't have any probs...
