Arrived @ 12 to no wind at the parking area but Pow Mow was already blowing in the mid 20's so I figured if I hiked up the rise there would be wind. There was wind but is was marginal at first and out of the north??? After a while the wind picked up and became more easterly. It was still marginal and gusty and I dropped the kite several times. The snow is chopped up and has a crust about 1 inch thick. There is a little sage sticking up in a few places but it isn't a problem. With the warming weather I think conditions may be deteriorating up there. I guess the peak season at Monte is over and I missed that day.
