A great weekend of kiting the west Uintas. Friday was great visibilty coupled with solid wind and near perfect snow for the whole package setup at Lake Creek on 12's. Kited till exhaustion.
Saturday the 3 of us burned a lot of gas in strong winds and stormy conditions looking for enough visibilty to kite. Lots of fresh snow drifting around. Finally found a "new" spot where you could see. I cowered behind my sled eating bagles and candy while Marty and Craig each got a session on 9's and 10's in what Marty reported as "survival conditions". He finished his ride with a pretty cool faceplant to frontside skid roll to safety release move and stopped right next to his sled. Not ideal kiting but a good day out in the hills and fun romping around.
Sunday we headed out early in the brilliant sunshine and found a true north wind at Lake Creek which allowed us to ride the terrain a little differently than the usual NW flow. 12's were the call. The new snow was a bit damaged from overnight winds but still soft and dry, pretty good by snowkite standards. After an hour or two kiting we burned gas at full speed to try another zone 20 min away, Silver Meadow. It was good there too and faced the North wind better.
A great weekend and I am worked... sounds like folks got some good kiting in all over this weekend. The season is finally on!
