Ozone Snowkite Masters - March 25-26

Postby windzup » Thu Mar 16, 2006 10:39 am

The Ozone Snowkite Masters is ready to go off next week on March 25th and 26th. Once again this dynamic event will take place at Skyline Drive, one of our nation’s premier Snowkite destinations. This is the foremost event of its kind, bringing together riders from across the country and around the globe for a snowkiting exhibition. Inspired by World Champion Snowkiter Guillaume ‘Chasta’ Chastagnol, the Snowkite Masters provides a non-competitive format where riders of all abilities can share the experience together while progressing the level of the sport. Sitting atop the Wasatch Plateau of Utah, Skyline offers riders some of the most diverse terrain for showcasing the dynamic potential of snowkiting. The hills and gullies form natural half-pipes and park like features, while the slopes offer miles of backcountry freeriding. There are acres of open flats and hills of every angle and direction offering the perfect ride no matter what the wind.

Lodging is still available at the Skyline Motel and the Skyline Mountain Resort cabins. This winter we are offering a special program, with a bed and breakfast style option at the cabins. Contact info@windzup.com to reserve your spot today.

The weather has been amazing this winter in Utah and Skyline has received over 100 inches of snow, with a few feet of fresh over the last week. With more snow in the forecast this weekend, Skyline should be set up nicely on the 25th. Keep an eye on the weather links on the event website for current information.

The Ozone Snowkite Masters has a dedicated website with event information, location maps and some amazing imagery. Stay informed at http://www.snowkitemasters.com

Brian,

100 inches of snow this year is an understatement. I bet Skyline has received well over 300". I will post a couple photos from October on the Album to give you an idea.

Should be a great event, looking forward to it! Let's keep our fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate.

The website says:
Snowkite Clinics will be held on Saturday and Sunday, between 10am and 3pm, providing an opportunity for newcomers to experience the sport

I'm a newcomer. Can I just show up with a board and get free lessons? Are there any caveats? I've been wanting to learn for a long time, and fly four line kites pretty well-like.

Im pulling my airstream argosy travel trailer to the festival. Its white, not silver. If you see it, stop by. We will have free beer and margs later in the day. My buddy Tim will probably start consuming earlier than later. He is in charge of the trainer kite/beer drinking contest.

There will be a demo field set aside for newcomers to fly kites. Ozone Snowkites will be available on the field to test fly. There will be 'Intro-to-Snowkiting' clinics, where people will have a chance to learn more of what Snowkiting is all about, but there will not be full length personal instruction during this weekend.

Check in at the yellow base-camp tent to register or sign up for clinics and snowkite demos. We'll have all the information posted at the main area on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is at mile marker 14 on Hwy 31 and it should be pretty obvious with all the sposnor flags and banners.

Its a good idea to have your own equipment that you are familiar with, and bring whatever you are more comfortable on, skis or snowboard.

Come on out and join the Windzup crew for another amazing weekend at Skyline at the 2nd annual Ozone Snowkite Masters, I hope to see all of the Utah locals up there!

Oh yeah..........
Along with the official stuff, there will be a ton of friendly Snowkiters around to pass on tips and tricks and help newby snowkiters to acclimate to this amazing sport. So definitely come out, wether its to try for the first time, or just to witness one of the sickest wind sports around. Its definitely a great opportunity to check out Snowkiting, and likely the biggest of its type this season in Utah.

Also, I wanted to send a huge Thank You out to all of the sponsors and supporters of the Ozone Snowkite Masters, who have helped contribute to make this event what it is today. First off are local Utah business's including Rhodes Bakery, who is supplying some tasty treats, and Zeal Optics of Moab that are bringing up Goggles and shades for some lucky attendees. Many kite-related manufacturers have also stepped up to grow this event, including Ultra Nectar, Dakine, AG Boards and Ozone Snowkites. Mainstream winter companies are also backing the event, and we are glad to have both Rossignol and APO snowboards on board this year. Kieboarder, Kiteworld and Backcountry magazine are each covering the event as well, with GS photography on the slopes all weekend covering all the camera angles. And for those that care to partake, we have a special beverage company that is once again at the Snowkite Masters, Ska Brewing!

The wind forecast is looking great for Saturday with SW at 16, see you up there!

This event will go down as the best Snowkiting event in the US.
The best riders from around the world are in town.
If there is any chance for you to go today (3/26)
Do It
Watch the best,
or take a clinic to get your feet "wet"
KSL ran a story on the news Sat.
Other stations were also there doing stories.
Brian and Heather have put on a First rate event.
Don't miss out.
