Powder Mountain Kicker

Postby Augie » Wed Mar 22, 2006 7:00 am

I hooked up the Best guys with the Powder Mountain snowcat operators yesterday. They plan to build a kicker today on the top of the ridge where we usually ride.

Forecast doesn't look so great for Pow Mow today. Looks better for Strawberry or Skyline. Nothing epic, just light wind and clear skies. I think I may head up to Strawberry again and try some hill gliding.

They weren't able to get a snowcat driver yesterday morning. The plan was to build it last night. Chris showed them where to put it and what shape.

The whole Best crew complete with loads of Waroos to demo will be at Powder Mt. today hitting the kicker and filming a snow kiting video! Come ride with us! Wind forecast looks awesome @ Powder and pretty light @ Skyline, but we'll be at skyline tomorrow (Sat) and the forecast is 25-30!!!

I just got off the phone with Kent, and he has cleared up everything to allow snow kiting again at Powder Mt!!! He ust needs a few days to get some waivers in place and riders will have to sign a liability waiver when you ride, but good news for sure!

If they forbid it, we'd have to take Augie captive and hold him for ransom.

anybody know who controls/monitors the wind gauge at the top of the hill at the tower. I'm not a instrument/weather guru, but it should be easy to hook the receiving end up to the internet for periodic updates.

I want to kite tomorrow, probably friday and saturday too if there is wind, are things good to go? Do I need to talk to someone first? What's up? Anyone have the details? Thanks

First of all, I would make a shitty captive for ransom because no one would pay. The wording for the waiver and insurance was what I was trying to work on. I was also trying to get with Brain Schenk since he had to have a short term policy for the Skyline event. I want to kite at Pow Mow tomorrow and will call this morning to see if they need any assistance with waivers. It may be that those of us with season passes already have the appropriate waiver. Think about what goes on in the terrain park and half-pipe every day.

I just spoke with the mountain manager and he said that although he has been unable to contact the insurance company for the last 3 days-KITING IS BACK ON AT POWDER MOUNTAIN!!! A waiver will be needed for next year and although they don't know what it will look like he said to just go ahead and they would pretend that they don't see any kites.
