Great night, weird night, great night. I think I went out first on my 11 until I was waaaay lit. Got my 9 and was having a great time. Peter crashed pretty hard, messed up his kite and I found his board just before it got to the weeds. Then, I was just about to come in from fatigue when someone detatched from their kite. I was in the air when it happened, and dumped my board because I thought I might get caught in their lines. I went after their kite - bad move - not only did I not get the kite, I couldn't find my board. Did I mention my FAVORITE board with my FAVORITE straps, pads and fins? So I dragged to shore, picked up a new board and went looking in grass, weeds, tamarisk, bird poop, mud and carp? lots of fish in the mud. No dice. It was actally kinda fun looking for the board jumping and looking down until I was on foot on shore in between thorn bushes in gusty ass wind looking for it. Finally I said screw it and went back to kiting. Good times. Billy saw lightening and we pulled the plug. As I was getting ready to leave, Trevor suggested we look for the board. Cody was in as well. So the three of us put on our best Mekong Delta faces and waded through the marsh - if you have never done this, it's a real treat. I'm embarrassed to say that as soon as it was getting dark, I came back to the car, figuring that I could no longer see anything, and that Cody and Trevor were probably back by now. Nope, they were still out there. Finally, Cody showed up. No dice. The only thing worse than losing a board, I suppose, is looking for it and not finding it. When Trevor showed up though, he wielded the board overhead like a Stanley Cup trophy. I was, and still am psyched! Finally got home at 11pm. Next session, I will roll with a fridge full of cold beer for all that are thirsty to honor the efforts of Cody and Trevor! I continue to be impressed by just how well this kiting crew gets along and takes care of each other. Not to mention just how sick some of you guys are out there, and how much so many people have upped their bars. You guys all frickin rule!
