I can still hear Billy yelling "Zephyrrrrr" like a four-year-old. I was doing it too
So yesterday I drove about 350 miles, from my house to Willard - skunked - Willard to Deer Creek - skunked - Deer Creek to Lindon, got a solid hour in and then the switch from hell came. When I saw water lifting OFF of the lake, and I was getting close to shore, I pulled off my leash, hit the "oh sh!t" button and waded to shore. Then I rolled to Lincoln where it was hitting 50 mph often. When Don launched his 9m I had to help hold him down. Since Don outweighs me by about 50 pounds, and is muy muy macho - more so than Ricardo Montalban even - I said screw it and went home. It sounds like the wind mellowed about an hour later, and I may have missed some rides. Oh well.
Today with no hope of riding, I called the windtalker to check sundance. Solid wind, but SSW. Went to check livelakeview, and my internet was dead, same with my TV. Called Allwest, they sent a service tech. Right before he showed up, my internet started working - Whitecaps! Gotta go.
So I get there and it looks good. Dobson comes in because it's getting crappy. I pump the Zephyr and will give it a go. Dobson shows me how to tune the bar and lines on the new kite and away I go...Can't even get upwind. I missed it...I head for the fence, and it picks up a wee, then I go out. It's hit and miss for about 10 minutes. Dobson officially bails, and then it turns ON. I'm on a new kite, new pads and straps and a board I've used once. The kite is well powered and a little scary at times, but I've got some depower left, and I'm safer on water than alone on land at this point, so what the hell. Let me tell you that a fully powered Zephyr can jump. Holy crap! I laughed out loud at least 10 times today. The landings were soooo friggin easy. The range on the kite is just ridiculous. I went past the marina and a boat provided wake for jumping and good cheering. I think I was out for three hours. Came back when things softened. Spencer got a little piece and Vicky gave it a shot just as the wind left for good. The Zephyr is just plain bitchin, I can't wait to glide on that thing. Everything Billy said about it is true, Holy crap...
