7/1 Lindon Beach 12m kahoona

Postby Travis Cook » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:32 pm

Despite all the bashing about Lindon beach lately I couldn't resist it being so close. I arrived just after three to a nearly empty beach and one other kiter setting up. I rode nicely powered on a 12 for about two hours. The chop wasn't too bad and it wasn't too gusty. A few brief lulls but I stayed in pretty close. Great ride.

Travis, no one "bashes" Lindon, It is the most unsafe launch and kiting spot any one currently kites at Utah Lake. Thats fact...... It was dangerous before the Gazebos and is now a true hazard with them. Unless you are launching and landing wet when you go there you are in danger every time you ride there.

I think a good wrap up of the lindon launch is as such. The only people kiting there are kiters with only a few years experance who continue to ride ther since there has not been a injury there yet. It is very rare you see a seasoned kiter with experance there. If so it is becuase the conditions are just right and there are other kiter to provide support.

Many of the newer kiters there are to nieve to understand what thoose with experance are tring to share, about the dangers of the launch, and wind quality.

I Hope anyone who kites there luanches and lands in the water away from the dangers on the shore.

I truley beleave its only a matter of time before one of the local intermedatie kites gets hurt at lindon.

Kiting is a dangerous sport and currently there are a lot of newer local kiters that seem to have forgotten that or pehaps were never taught the proper site evaluation, I know you where......
