7/17 - 8/1 Gorge

Wow, what a windy couple of weeks in the Gorge. We arrived to a big 3.7 day @ the Hackery, it was definately intimidating, but turned out to be so much fun. I thought get it while you can, and sailed as long as possible. I thought oh it will be lighter tomorrow, haaa, it wasn't more really strong 3.7, and the next day too. We got a lighter 4.2 day, then 2 more op'd 3.7 days, then the winds gods gave us a couple hot, windless days of rest, which we really needed, but you never really hope for. It gave me the chance to head into town and buy the 3.3 that I had seen on our earlier trip. And guess what I got to use it a couple of times. the first session I rigged it too flat, the wind was really gusty and underpowered, and I struggled to make it back. The 2nd session was different, and everything clicked, it was a blast! It was soooo tiny and light, and with fairly steady wind, and huge swell, it was soo much fun. It whips around so quickly.. it was good enough to get a couple of hours on the baby 3.3 at the bouey by Wells Island, and make it bake to the Hack launch, with a big smile. What a day....I think my best Hackery day ever.
We sailed all but one day @ the Hackery, the other was a slow in getting there day at the Wall, with 3.7 wind and smooth swell that was worth waiting for, and worth the drive. We had a couple other 4.2 days, and a 4.7, 5.3 day. It's all kinda a big, happy windy blur. Lot 's of Utah wind lovers were on the water having fun, it was great to see so many!

Hey Rick, I hope you can put it together, and make the trip. We will be heading back 9/4 thru the 12th, if you can make it. I think your mental health deserves it, so try to get it on your schedule. SR
