the best bet today is still DC for planable puffs around 4 or 5 PM in the 8.5/16M range
And so it was; a few slight caps in evidence when I arrived, but the wind continued to build as I was rigging, reaching a peak of 17 mph a little before 6:30. The direction was more southerly than usual (making it easy to go far up toward the dam on port tacks.) Also unusual was the fact that the wind was considerably stronger close to the launch than on the far side.
