Cancun 2/1 to 2/8 - 15M

I was down in Cancun for the week for a business retreat and hauled along a few kites. I kited a few times right in front of the hotel strip in the surf. The wind was a bit light for it plus a little too much on-shore to get upwind as quick as I needed. But I got a few rides and got out beyond the break and half the fun is trying. It was my first time in real surf and it proved harder than I thought. I suppose it was the twin-tip board because it felt like it was snagging on each wave-- I definitely didn't have the balance of it when the wave would break and I'd have to ride the whitewater. Re-launching in waves is a trick too. Lots of new stuff to learn. Maybe there's a good reason why so many wave riders use more of a surfboard than the twin tip?

Twice I drove up north to Isla Blanca to kite the lagoon. 2-3 feet of clear water out for miles. Again, the wind was a little on the light side but rideable. One day I rented an Airush 15M and the different between the Kahoonas and Best setups that I'm used to was amazing. It had great power and boost in the power zone, but that kite didn't want to come up to the edge of the window very easily or very far. And the water relaunch in low wind was tough. Good times and WARM.
