SOOOO.... who kited last night under the full moon???? I should have but my bum was in bed with a cold. Looked bluebird and epic all afternoon, evening and night, but I wasn't there. I was up Friday morning to find a couple dozen kiters and some bunk punchy wind. Powered on my 13, with a few lulls and a few ass-kickers that had the throttle pinned. All in all a great session tho, with the winds evening out during the day and getting mellow. The 20% chance of snow finally came, lasted 20 minutes, and then brought smoother afternoon winds.
Shy from Slingshot was the first to send it and get wicked high on the hill near Chasta's forest. Then Kenny showed up to do the high afternoon glides on the south side of Boscos.
I found that the gully's of all places had the strongest wind and meandered thru half pipes chasing pow. Chip Wasson of Ultra Nectar was on the hill, and joined me on the ridge later, only to put his kite 30 feet up in a tree. 2 foot tear on a 2011 Frenzy, and it flew fine for the next hour getting back. (gotta love V-ribs)
Great powder snow, average wind, with some ugly moments. All in all several hours of fresh tracks. Many smiles and new faces. Oregon, Cali, Florida, Utah and more in the house. Not a glamorous day, but chalk up another day snowkiting in the mountains with friends.
Lots of Slingshots in the air, along with Naish and Ozone. The SS team made their kites look good, even a bit of multi rider formation flying for the camera.
Windzup,
Brian Schenck
