UWA hits the big time!! Utah sailors profiled in Windsurfing

[i][b]Imagine my surprise when I opened the new issue of Windsurfing to see an article on our very own UWA locals. Since the article is written and shot by John Dubock's brother Glen, the 3 "D's" are prominently featured. Jim Southwick takes center stage with a nod to Craig Goudie's forcasting prowess. The juxtaposition to the frenetic pace of other locations featured makes you appreciate the sublime reward of chasing wind in Utah.
The article omits much of the scope of Utah sailing but does a good job of capturing the comraderie we share and the pictures of Deer Creek are spectacular. Luckily, it doesn't look like we had much wind while Glen was here or the parking at Angela's might begin to resemble Doug's beach.

hey it only took me 10 years to get my brother out here to shoot 1600 shots, 3 years of emails to Eddy Patricelli, editor. Glenn wrote the article, has little control over what is said in the end and the mag chooses from 65 final shots. Can't wait to see it.

I hope we can use this issue to promote Rookie World 2006 and better relationships with Rangers, beach access etc.

You hit the nail on the head, Trip; there just wasn't much wind while Glenn was here, and most days the wind arrived very late in the afternoon. I kept hoping we'd get a really good North wind day so Glenn could get some shots of Manny and Dave looping on Utah Lake, but it just didn't happen. It worked out really well for me, though; hanging out with one of the world's premier windsurfing photographers was a blast. Still haven't seen the article.

Just read it - congratulations to Jim, The Dubocks, and Craig. I always knew you guys were famous! And Jim . . I was wondering if anyone has asked why you are wearing a parachute over your lifevest . . and hoping that you responded with something like . . "I get a LOT of air when I jump"
