july 7, lincoln on a 12m. what a pleasant surprise

The wind started blowing from the North at about 3pm, so i ditched work and ran to lincoln to get a ride in before the t-heads rolled in. I got on the water around 4 and rode totally solo and nicely powered on my 12m session. After about an hour, maybe only 45 minutes the wind started to feel weird and punchy. I looked to the Northwest and saw thick dark clouds that looked like they were sitting on the lake. Being all alone i panicked and got in as fast as i could...i attempted a self landing on the grass, because The wind closer to shore was quite smooth and the beach was completely abandoned...even of boaters. The kite didn't pull over LE down and started to roll so I ended up ditching my bar and chasing my kite to save it from getting thrashed on the lone tree by the pavillion. No sooner did i get my kite and start rolling up did Trevor, Chris G. and Tyler pull in. I don't think they saw my embarassing landing, but i asked trevor to give me a quick rundown on the safest way to land a LF kite. I launched them and left, so i don't know how they did, but i was home about 15 minutes later and the lightning had hit, and it was raining like crazy so...i hope they got out ok.

There was actually one boat there that was pulled in on its trailer over by the campgrounds...there were three teenage boys and three girls standing in the boat watching me. The boys were wearing speedos and no shirts and they had kinda longish hair...i'm ashamed to say that from the water i thought they were flat chested girls because all i could see were skimpy black bottoms and no top. Not to mention they were probably weaker than their girlfriends that were with them. Other than the dirty old man feeling those dudes gave me it was a really nice ride.
