Weds. Meeting with Larry Ellertson SAVE ULLB

Postby bordy » Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:27 am

There is a meeting with Larry Ellertson at 430 pm on Weds. the 28th at 100 east center street in Prove UT. We are currently plaining on attending the Meeting with a small group to participate. This includes
Myself, Chris Sherwin, Tyler Lyons, Chris and Jessica Gainer, and John Guay. Chris and I have had the phone conversations with Roger, Kelly and have been there for Kellys outburst. the Gainers and Tyler have been present for many of Kellys out burst also and were the first to right letters to Larry and are at ULLB any night it is windy.

If any one thinks we should handle this differently or include more people please use this forum to voice their opinions....

Larry listened to our concerns and set up the meeting, it was not clear to me weather Roger and Kelly will be present but Larry left it open to how many people could attend. Larry was very nice on the phone and was much more reasonable then Roger has been. I do not think he has placed judgement on us based on mistruths from the camp host and we should get a fair shake.

If you have not written a letter to Larry yet please do. If you were present during Kellys out burst please discribe what you witnessed. Please share you thoughts on the lake and feel free to mention our communitys cander and respect for the location.

I wish I could make it but I am out of the country. All I can say is what I said on the other thread: please minimize the issue with Kelly and focus on how we are in line with the mission of the County Park and Rec Dept! Personally, I am feeling that those speaking on my behalf to this point in time are not representing completely my view on this matter (at least what I have read of accounts on this forum) by continually crucifying the campground host. In my opinion this is a tiny part of it.

With that said, I deeply appreciate the efforts and best of luck.

That seems like a lot of people for the meeting.
Could be possible that Larry might feel out numbered?

Going into this, attacking the host, might quickly put Larry on the defensive.
I imagine he will defend his employee / volunteer. (I would)
I am not questioning the accounts of Kelly's behavior, just that it is "his team" vs "your team."

Just some thoughts.
Whatever thou art, do well thy part.

This is only my opinion, for what it's worth.

It's hard to discuss strategy on this open forum
when Roger and Kelly have been following this.
He has mentioned some comments to Billy that he could have only known from logging in.
There has been strategy discussed on the beach and in the background with emails texts and facebook.
With all the letters that have been sent there is not much more that needs to be said to the commissioner.
I have all confidence that these representatives will be listening more than talking
and be prepared to answer any questions the commissioner will have.

Billy because he has been communication with the commissioner
Chris S. because of the legwork he has been doing.
the Gainers and Tyler have been present for many of Kellys out burst also and were the first to right letters to Larry and are at ULLB any night it is windy.
And John because of his great way with people, etc

No attacking, mostly listening and answering. the letters sent say it all.
No winning or loosing, no us against them, no our team, your team.
Compromising and offering insight.

If there is a open councel meeting then strategy may need to be discussed openly on the forum
but for now, I have FULL confidence this is the correct path to be taken.

Eyes on the Prize

Means save access to ULLB
so as not to start a precdence for loss of any beach access for all windsports.

If you still question the motives and stratagy, I'm sure any of these guys will gladly take personal calls, texts PM or any method to talk with anyone concerned.

IMHO

Thanks Billy and Chris for inviting me the meeting. I was a part owner in Hood River Windsurfing back in the early windsurfing years in the Gorge. We worked with the Port of Hood River on access for windsurfers and windsurfing schools in the Marina . Windsurfing was new and not particularly welcomed by the locals in those days. We were able to work through the issues and develop a positive relationships. Hopefully this meeting is the first step of building positive relations between our Kite Community and Utah County.

I appreciate being asked to come also and agree with what John said. Our whole purpose is to go to this meeting in order to maintain access of Lincoln Beach, safety for us and our families while we are there, and to build a strong relationship with the county officials. I don't think any of us who are going are going to "tattle" on the camp host or to get him fired. The only reason the issues are even being brought up is because they directly involve our desired outcomes. We want to maintain good relationships with the county and those they hire to oversee Lincoln Beach so that there are no more problems like this in the future.
