Only one other guy up there in the afternoon with me. The wind was definitely up but very gusty. By later afternoon some weather rolling in from the north killed the wind for a bit. The coverage is the biggest problem with lots of stumps, sage and dirt poking through. I rode over and on the lake but that was REALLY freaky riding along smoothly and then all of the sudden BOOM you're on water. I couldn't tell how thick the ice was or if it was real thin. Just don't make a mistake and go down, right? So I stuck mostly to the northern edge of the lake and on the land by the hills.

I got a few hours in before Travis showed. Snow definitely is an issue. It was melting quick with the high temps. The road to the parking lot barely has snow. Looks like mid-May snow levels up there. Had a few turns that left deep water tracks so I don't know if you'd call it "snow" kiting. The ice still should be fairly thick though, I can't imagine falling through but you would get your boots wet. Still had a good time, I like the sticky snow for the pop you get when you send it. Pray for more snow.

Less than two weeks ago I was ice fishing at strawberry. I had my sleds on the lake. There was 17 inches of ice. That is safe enough. There are some springs over by the narrows you need to watch out for. The strawberry bay marina store has a map to show you were all the springs are. But where you were kiting I dont think there are any springs.
