Linda and I had a wonderful trip to Maui, and sailed 9 out of 12 days. A little lighter wind this year, by maui standards, but the biggest I sailed was a 5.8 and 94 ltr board. Wow I sure felt rusty the first couple of days, then finally got in the groove of things. This was a celebration trip of Linda's recovery from cancer, and a big hurah for me, before I face knee replaccment surgery, next week. Rented gear from the Kanaha Kai, that turned out to be really handy, having it so close by kanaha. We had a bad fire, one day just upwind of kanaha, and it was so smokey, that when we went out on the water, we could not see the shore, and it was a bit hard to breath, and cut our day short. Our rental car stunk the rest of the week. One afternoon, I went way out in dark waters and had a whale breech about 100 yrds ahead of me....it definately woke me up, and was very cool to see. kanaha is such a beautiful and pleasant place to windsurf, it has that resort kind of feel especiall with the showers and grassy park. Once on the water, the swell gets so big sometimes that you feel like you are going over the top of a house. Kindof exciting for most of us Utah sailors. Can't wait to go back.
