It was an Interesting day to pick Deer Creek to sail, as all of the usual indicators for a a good day of sailing sucked! The Sundance/Arrow Head (DC predictor) site was showing little to no wind. The upper air was in the low teens and big puffy clouds over the mountains were telling me not to go. However, Grant Jr. wanted to work on helicopter tacks and I was desperate for a few planers so off we went. Got to Sailboat Beach around 1:00 with a little air coming over the dam but not enough to get up and planing. I rigged an 8.5m sail and Jr rigged a 7.0 and we tacked our way up to the dam. A few jet skis came by but we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Around 2:00pm a few wind fingers started and round trip rides on the windlines became more the norm by 2:30. Turned out to be a good day and it was still planable when we left at 4:30. Sometimes you just get lucky!!!
