12/31 Strawberry 21m

Arrived around 10 AM to up and down wind. I brought my son, Jack so I was really hoping that it would fill in nicely. Saw Tommy Reynolds, Billy, Ken Lewis (he also brought his son) and Pepe. My son and I monkeyed around with an 11m Frenzy that just wanted to collapse (anyone want a good deal on a 2011 Frenzy?). We packed it up and put him on a 12m Speed 3. He proceeded to go downwind as lot of beginners do. He managed pretty well and stayed at the base of the gliding hill for over an hour. However, eventually he went downwind. We ended up doing a downwinders to the massive gliding hill well beyond the usual riding area with a couple stops to detach the bridles of my son's kite from the sage. Packed up and began the long walk of shame. The sun went down as we reached the half way mark, when a nice rancher picked us up and drove us back to my truck. It was a great day. The wind and snow were good under brilliant blue skies. It was a huckfest at the glider hill. My son also had a gret time and made a lot of progress.

It was a great time up there. My son has some snow and a little water time but it's been a while since he has tried it. I reminded him of the importance of staying "up wind." I got him set up on my 13m Yarga hybrid and sent him on his way while I set up my 16m Waroo. By the time I was setup and ready to go, he was up at the mouth of the wind source so I had to go clear up there and bring him back to play area. He went for about 3 hours straight and then said he was too tired to go anymore. Good thing because I had to get him to work. Nice start of the season for me and my son had a good time as well.
