what are your guys' thoughts on jordanelle/ deer creek? i think billy and myself might give it another go up there. looks to be good until 6ish...? what are the usual limiting factors on jordanelle and deer creek?

I went to Rush today. Rode a 12M and had a great time. It is still kiteable if you take the fins off your board. The water is about 6" deep in the center. The walk through the mud is about 200 feet. Still a good reach and the water is butter flat. If you go, take some water to wash off the filth.

I was in Soda Springs around noon today,
If I had time, I coulda kited at Alexander Reservoir.

We definatly need more options for South winds.

I like the Big Sandy idea,,
for a long weekend.

We're kinda f***ed.

it was nice meeting you last night. too bad we experienced the classic "you should have been here two hours ago!" scenario. but, i got a short ride up on my newly tuned kite and first ride on my board. i desperately need a good afternoon to play in some steady winds to get my skills up.

and, normally i do know how to self rescue. no need to worry. billy told me you were asking if i was ok. the winds just werent heavy enough to flip that damn kite over and do a proper self rescue. nor were the winds strong enough to get that kite back up in the air. oh well. i got a short ride on my own gear, encountered another rescue scenario, and got to kook it up in my wetsuit in the parking lot with some other kiters, so it was overall a good night. thanks for the launch and give me a call if you ever have a good lead on some strong winds in the area, or if anybody ever figures out lincoln on anything but north wind.

Excellent job on your rush outing. If I had known there was water left I would have gone. Thanks for the tip. Sal, Ryan and I went to AF boat harbor and missed it. Was windy when we arrived. Kind of a cool launch option for the future.

I'm pretty sure that southbay would have been cranking that day. I figure if we can get a reading above 9 (S or SW) at PVU then it is 12m action (upper teens) at Southbay. For those who don't know, Southbay is just around the corner from Lincoln on the west side of West Mountain. When the water was low we had a huge sand launch but with the water this high the launch will be on the rocks (big round rocks though). I've had some really really nice days out there. It is typically a side onshore, typical Utah lake shallow (sand and mud bottom) but plenty deep for windsurfers, Rush type swell (small), and the wind can be pretty smooth considering it is a south wind (like early morning Rush). I have also seen it like afternoon Rush with struggling to keep the kite up one minute then fully overpowered the next (I don't have enough experience to really know why it gets that way sometimes). The one thing I usually do wrong is that I try and hit it after work and that doesn't really work (from my experience). I think it is best early to mid afternoon. If you can't get there before 4 or 5pm forget it. It seems to shutdown early and is much more inconsistent the later it gets. The one struggle I always had was getting anyone to make the extra drive but now that you guys are getting accustom to the Lincoln drive it is only another 8 minutes around the tip. Next good south I am game so post if anyone wants to go give it a try.
