3/11/15 Grants 6.5m 109L - Wind Meter Info

Postby John Freed » Wed Mar 11, 2015 6:01 pm

Wind meter is out on the Mesowest at the reservoir. I have called the Tooele Emergency Management Office which is responsible for the weather station. They said they have a "server problem" with the new NOAA servers and/or equipment problems. He wasn't exactly sure what the issue is at Grants. He did say that they hope to get it working, but it may be off and on for awhile. When I arrived at the reservoir this morning, the propeller on the wind meter wasn't even turning. It may be damaged. I'll give them another call tomorrow. Anyway... Ken O. and I had a very nice "opener" at the tub. Water level is still down, water kind of cold, but wind was nice for the most part. Reach is fine. We started on the bigger boards, but then we were able to go down to the 109L. Ken sailed his 7.0, I was on a 6.5. Powered up pretty much the whole time. Fun morning! Really felt good to be "back on the water"! Ken already has a dozen days this year with Mohave and a February day at Grants. He is in mid-season form. I'm just happy to be on the water! Surfs up!!!!! Yahoo!!!!!

It was fun being out with John, the bionic man. The new knee appears to be working great. He has so much metal in him now I am surprised he doesn't sink.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
