Sounds as though it really was better at the south end of DC. Up at the north end (Charleston Bridge) I got a few rides on my 7.0, but not many. The water is very shallow directly in front of the parking lot except for a channel that runs parallel to the shore. Thanks to the channel, I was able to drag my rig to windward until I got to water deep enough that the fin wasn't touching bottom. Unfortunately, the wind didn't prove strong enough to justify the effort. The session's redeeming feature was the opportunity it gave me to count the swans; yesterday there were definitely only 7. "Seven swans a'swimming, 6 geese a'laying...."
