Marty,

I prefer Lincoln. I like the side-shore launch and big flat water area. It also seems to have fewer mosquitos and I like rigging on the grass, I just wish it had a sandy beach, then it would be perfect.

ULSSB is my preference, I like passing the farm with all the miniture animals and peecocks and the on the dirt road threw the trees to the sandy beach. its like a secret surf break.....

Im not saying I dont love Lincoln Beach, because that place is way sick too.

I've been to lincoln once, my first day on water. Seems cool and I walked alot of the mud way out, but I dont like the barb wire fence down wind when the water is high. Neither did my instructor after getting his kite back deflated. Glad it was the kite that found the fence rather than me though. Cant wait to check out ssb.

I agree with everyone. SSB is like having a secret surf break. I also love the sandy bottom. I don't enjoy the rocky bottom at Lincoln, but love the flat water. I think Lincoln has more to offer if you are bringing your girl friend etc. Side shore launch is nice too. Plus your car doesn't get as dirty and dusty. I wish we had the old SSSB back. Perfect for teaching newbies. Fact of the matter is I'll ride wherever all my Utah kite friends are riding. How about tonight?? Any theories??

p.s.- Marty- Got your message about the fifth line conversion for the instinct. Let me know when they come in. Thanks

Overall they are both good and bad. I see it like this.

SSB
THE GOOD:
1. Secret surf spot feel. Just the elements and friends.
2. Nice flat water in the reeds.
3. Nice breakers in the inside to surf.
4. On-shore for us old guys that can't relaunch our big kites without standing up.
5. I still think there is more wind at SSB but everytime I have talked to the Lincoln crowd when we were out at SSB it wasn't clear that one is better than the other. But I still hold to my theory (as unscientifically proven as it is).
6. Sandy bottom (ahhhh).

THE BAD:
1. Not much of a launch these days.

THE UGLY:
1. Trash and broken bottles (it pisses me off).

Lincoln:
THE GOOD:
1. Grass for setup although the flip side to this is that my last experience suggests that you will pay with blood to rig on the grass.
2. Nice flat water section that doesn't have that "if you F-up" you are in the reeds.
3. More friends (at least this summer that seemed to be the case).

THE BAD:
1. The rocky bottom sucks.

THE UGLY:
1. That damn fence to add insult to injury since the only reason you end up down there is if you having a problem or the wind has died.

I'm shooting for SSB tonight.

I must be a sick puppy because my favorite patch of water to kite on the planet is Rush.

So sad it is gone... It would have been good today.

I like the launch at Lincoln but in the water the rocks make booties a must and I would rather ride barefoot. Also this place is great as long as you are powered enough to stay out of the weeds to the south. Also nice restrooms unlike the mosquito attacks you get at SSB.
Only down side to SSB is the lack of room and the scratches to the paint job on the way in and out. But it is a neat drive through the trees and weeds to get there with that secret hidden paradise feel to it.
