I know, I shoulda been there yesterday, Josh said. But even late on the water, it was clearly a good time for all and a great first (sigh) G'ville day for me hauling around the shrinking lake.
5.7 flattened was overpowered 50% of the time and just right the other 50% for the rough hour+ I sailed. Josh (and 8-9 wingfolk) were on the water way before me ~8:00-8:30, but I had a good time from ~9:00 to just past 10:00. Josh had two sails on the beach and magically switched his boom between his 5.6 and 4.8 in a heartbeat. Lots of good tricks to watch outta him, as usual.
One super gust coming down the hill had me at 27 mph (from my watch) - seemed waay too fast as I ran out of water coming to the shore.
Surprised the water was a still a bit chilly, but my shorty was fine once the clouds cleared. Wings still making it work when I left at 10:45. Yahoo for the windmeter, and BIG THANKS to Craig for calling G'Ville during the last 3 days!
Only a couple of fisher people. Couple killdeer calling away. Josh sez Vultures are hanging out on the North-West shore.
I saw electric signs saying there would be road closure Aug 22-24 and to "Take ERDA Way". Not sure what that means. I'll be in Idaho checking out Lake Walcott and MTB.
