9/17 UL Pelican Point Park 9.5 Sumo 8'8"

Yes that's what I'm going to start calling the Saratoga Springs Municipal Park
since it confuses people that the Saratoga Springs park is about 3 miles
South of Saratoga Springs, and all the old timers call it Pelican Point.

Anyway, after being shamed into going by Sarah, some of the core
Tribe showed up to rig huge, and ride fine. Sarah, Linda, Stuart,
and I rode the 8.5 to 9.5 range from 3:30 till about 5:30, with
Windsurfing Magazine poster boy George Ward making a special guest
appearance, away from DeerCreek, on his 7.5. Actually pretty fun
conditions which were perfectly ridable with todays modern gear,
even in the 9 MPH range. First ride on my Retro 9.5 and Sumo 155,
great combination.

The air was cool, and so were the sailors.

nice. how were the weeds? i'm hoping they are no longer an issue there. also, what indicators showed wind? Rob S went to Provo and, despite light white caps wasn't able to make it work with 8.0 and 75cm board so it might not have gotten that far south.

It was a good time on fat gear, which I haven't riden since spring. What a work out. I'd forgotten what it took to trim the formula board, and handle that big of a sail. Just over a week ago in the Gorge on 4.2 and 4.7 which I could sail for 3 to 4 hrs. But yesterday after about a hr and a half I was tired. I'm still learning a lot about going deep upwind/downwind through the chop on fat board, cause it puts you at some weird angles, hanging onto a big sail. It's a pretty exciting ride to head deep downwind, down the back side of the swell, I'm still trying to get used to the feeling, cause it kind of scarry, I feel like I'm going to get pulled over the handle bars. Practice, practice, practice!

Linda and I both had sore backs, and had to hit the advil when we home, after using the big sails. It was glad that Craig liked his new fat gear, and got some good rides on the 9.5. Always fun to get Stu out sailing, I'm glad he's back in Utah with us. I was surprised to see George W, he got some good rides too on his new 7.5 (think it was).

I hope to get some more rides today at DC, and hope to join other ws'rs there. Looks to be a Good Day!

Emmanuel and I were both at work, watching it. Never looked like it was going to blow. About the time Provo Airport hit 9 mph, SLC went to "variable", which is usually the kiss of death for a North to continue. Clearly one has to believe in the Craig, although it sounds like Sarah believed in the Craig more than Craig did! Ha. Glad you guys got some. I'll be out there with you for one of these cruisers one day before the end of the season (hope).

I had no issues with weeds (at least none I was aware of).
