11/28 Skyline - too much of a good thing

Postby Kenny » Wed Nov 29, 2006 6:50 pm

I was so excited that I took off the afternoon. Arrived to 15 - 20 gusty NW wind. I would guess that Skyline received around 30 inches of new snow. The powder on top was light, but heavier underneath. I have never had to work so hard to get a ride as I felt like a human snowplow. I started with a 12M Frenzy, but I needed more power so I rigged a 20M Waroo. Rode up the hill and came down to the flat area and the wind died. As I was postholing it back to the car in waist-deep snow I remembered that the upper ridge is a far better place to ride on a north wind. The great news is that Skyline is set with a nice base.
