6/9-6/10 Yuba

We had so much fun last weekend we decided to do it again. Woke up Sat. to very light winds. Ry and I took turns on the 25m Gaastra Phoenix. Tons of pull with that thing as we showed off for all the spectators of the wakeboard competition. If the kiting wasn't the highlight of the day, the thick cut bacon was. We ate a whole package after our session. Delicious. I love kiting the morning thermal then relaxing over a delicious breakfast. Spent the rest of the day playing on the beach with Ryan's boss's kids. All four of them. We had 5 kids and four dogs under our supervision. That was alot of work. Sun. provided 15m wind. We kited all the way up into the south bay. Ry's boss showed up with his boat and we wakesurfed the rest of the day to the point of heat stroke. Yuba four for four so far.

We wish you could have come too. BTW- This place is perfect for someone who likes light steady wind and is a family man. Do we know anyone who fits this description?

A few kiters come to mind Dean, Kenny, Rossberg, you guy need to join us. Theres nothing like waking up and kiting then eatin scamby-eggs pancakes and thick cut bacon(if you spill the grease you better look out for the red-ants)Dont stay in the sun to long or you mite lose your scramby-eggs...Hope to see more kiters next trip. I'll be out of town for work for the next 2 weeks. I hope you guys get good wind this weekend at the event at DC....

I am interested - Several years ago, I drove there early in the morning and then drove back the same day. Please fill me in on a few details:

1. Where do you camp? What time do you need to be there in order to get into the campground?
2. What is the camping like? flush toilets or outhouses. Does the area have picnic tables?

Maybe we need a better beta on Yuba. I've often heard good things but there is little on predicting the thermal. It's a drive so you want to feel confident it's going to go, which, apparently it often does. Ask Rick.

Kenny- This is THE place for you. Your big foil will be perfect for Yuba. When you get to Nephi take highway 28. Not sure what exit this is but it's where the Flying J is. This takes you to Painted Rocks campground. You'll be on 28 for 15-20 mi. or so then look for the sign for Yuba. 5 min. dirt road to Painted Rocks. It's always open and you can get in any time of night. West beach closes at night, not sure when. Nice campground with covered picnic tables and out houses. Try to reserve a spot online that overlooks the water. Costs 9 bucks to camp. Don't mess with West beach campground. Has beautiful sandy beaches but no wind. From what I can tell Painted Rocks blows everyday. The 4 days Ry and I have kited there the wind never really came up(when we saw caps) till 8am.
