Arrived to 10 mph wind at 5 PM. Wind picked up to 12 - 14 when I got on the water. Rode nicely powered for an hour and then the wind died. Picked up about 10 minutes later and I rode for 15 minutes and then it shutdown. It was a great session in glassy water with enough power for jumping. No other kiters there. I thought at least one other kiter would come out of desperation/hope.

I expected better wind based on the 14 mph readings at Bluffdale, but I am happy with an excellent, albeit short session.

I thought about heading out, but the wind dropped down to 9 at the airport. It also had that nasty western part which has killed the potential. I probably could not have been out there until 6:30 or so anyhow. Which I guess by then it was over. At least I will tell myself that. Hate to miss out on another good UL evening.

Mike,

You made the right call. It was over quickly. I would have had a lot more riding at the salt ponds or burmester, but it was nice to clean off my gear after my session at the Salt Ponds on Wednesday.

mike- i was in the same boat. i couldnt' leave SLC till 5:30. i was talking to billy and he was going to call me if it was good. Sal, Bill and i think Jake went to SSB. i was temped by chop and sandy beach, but it sounds like it never happened, or maybe it was so good over there they went out and forgot to call me....

either way i keep telling myself we will have a miraculous steady session at DC tomorrow and we didn't miss anything special at utah lake.

Mike,

I doubt it will be steady, but at least it should blow. I will be skipping the crowds and enjoying the Rush Mush as Stokes would call it. Have fun!

Stokes,

Will do. I am concerned about the forecast. I hope there is enough of a south push to overcome the north. The extra heating today and complete lack of a south in the Tooele Valley made it possible for Rush to fire on a north this afternoon. The additional heating tomorrow will set up a strong thermal unless the south pushes through.
