June 15-23 San fran to seattle...

Postby bordy » Mon Jun 25, 2007 11:49 am

Just spent the last 10 Days sailing from San Fran to Seattle aboard a 53 foot catch, Just myself and the skipper, First days saw head on 25+knot winds and 18+ foot swells. We had to seek shelter in Bodaga Bay (where they filmed Hitchcocks "The Birds") for 2 days while the weather bouys read 20+ foot seas and 35-40 knot winds, spend a day cruising town and another kiting some sweet shallow water with a nice sandy bottom and launch but also home to some razor clams, My little toe sure wishes I had brought booties! Waroo 16 mid powered. Due to the hillside blocking the NW ocean "breeze"! Finally got a window and Ran north! The wind switch south after our first day and the seas settled down for a nice trip up the coast and inland to Seattle. A very fun trip that we where lucky enough to sail a bunch! The skipper Dan is a old friend of mine and brought the boat up from the east coast of Venazula throuh the canal and up from there in 88 days.

The best news is Dans a Kiter and really wants to use his Catch "PAPA II" as a kite platform down the southwest coast this winter after heading North to AK to do some Charter work this summer. If any one is interested in Kite trips or just spending time aboard here is his website.

I am looking foward to some freash water kiting now that I am home but looks like I'll have to follow the tribe to the gourge!!

What a great trip on a wonderful boat. Everyone should go at least once seeing nothing but open seas for days allows you to think!!

Sailing a 53 foot catch on as many as four sails single handed while the skipper sleeps allows you to dream!!!!!

The whales, the dolphins, the birds where are only company and that was just fine!!!
