7/11 LPP's - desperation kiting

Postby Kenny » Thu Jul 12, 2007 10:05 am

This spring has been the best kiting I have had since I started. 2 to 4 sessions per week. The big gear has helped, but we have also had some good windy days. When the wind goes away this time of year it is hard to accept. I went to the LPPs even though I knew it would be light. The water level has dropped so the southern pond is only 3 - 6" deep and they reek. The SA and Monster Door are an amazing combination. I was able to stay upwind in wind blowing 7-10 mph. Rode for 45 minutes, no jumps. What is wrong with me??? I enjoyed a sessin that was marginal in every respect. Very little wind, filthy stinky water, 3 horse fly bites on the way back to the car. Yet, I would do it again in a minute. Perhaps, it was the flat water or the view of a thunderstorm building over the Oquirrh Mountains. There is something special about kiting that I have not found in any other sport. I find serenity in light wind kiting and I love the thrill of riding in high winds. What an amazing sport!
