7/14 Salt Ponds - SA & Glide

Postby Kenny » Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:50 pm

Wind was good today at the Salt Ponds, around 12 - 15 mph and steady. Water has turned a beautiful turquoise blue. The only part I didn't like was walking on the solid salt bottom surface. The big crystals were tough on my feet even with booties. I am going to wear a bootie with a solid sole next time. Salt content is super high. After two hours of riding my legs looked like they had sprouted big shaggy white hairs due to the massive amont of salt build up. It was a great session

Josh,

Would anyone actually come to the salt ponds if I called the hotline??? If so, I don't mind calling. So far this year, I am the only person that has bothered to kite at the Salt Ponds. You need the right setup to kite there or it can be downright miserable.

I'll ride the ponds

Kenny, I'd ride the Acid Ponds with you if I knew you were going and it was a north'ish wind. I've got a 16M kite and a big board. Well, actually my board is in Portland, OR but I'll be picking it up in August. So starting in late August I'm good to go.

Picture of the big white shaggy hairs.....I bet it would be a prize winner! It's not something that you see every day....SR

Kenny,
Zac and I have been wanting to kiteboard there (we actually just bought some goggles), we've just been pretty busy lately and it seems like there hasn't been any wind. Next time you head out there give me a call (we work during the day, but if it's an evening or weekend session we'd be up for it).

Thanks!

Lisa/Zac/Kenny, please give me a call too. My number is (503) 936-9354. I could go before August if someone can loan me a big board.

Hope all are well.

Okay, I will give you guys a call the next time I go out. It won't be until August. I am in the LA area and headed to Maui next week.
