The Pine Effect comes through again! By 8 AM Sundance was in double digits, and by 11:15 it was reporting 20-26, at which point there was NO wind in the Heber Valley. But, sure enough, at 12:17 the SW wind arrived in Charleston. By 1 PM, the biggest gusts were reading in the high 20s at the launch site. Pete Larson went out on a 6.7 and was doing well over all, but appeared to be a bit overpowered in the biggest gusts. I went with a 4.5, which worked well in the gusts, but was, of course, much too small the rest of the time. George arrived at about 2, went out on a 6.7, and appeared to have very little difficulty dealing with the 0-35 conditions.

Interestingly, wind speed measurements made on the beach seem to be consistently higher than more-or-less simultaneous measurements made in Charleston. The peak gust measured on the beach today, for example, was 35, compared with a peak gust of 27 recorded in Charleston.
