There was, indeed, an afternoon thermal, and (just as Craig predicted) it peaked late, about 4:40. When I arrived at a little after 3, there were occasional gusts into the low teens, but for the most part the wind speed was under 10 mph. 9.5 time! As I finished rigging, there were ominous looking gusts in the distance; logic suggested rigging down, but sloth prevailed. Had my hands full at times, but was never actually slam dunked. Able to plane most of the time (except for blown jibes) from a little before 4 until 5:30.
