i didn't want to be the first to comment, but we had a blast. i arrived to SSB to watch jake, bill, sal, a fellow who i forget his name, and ryan pumping their kites. i drove in behind mike. we launched 9's and 12's and proceeded to ride some great wind. it was up and down, but very fun. i would estimate mid 20's and rode very tenetively with a new waroo of my buddies. about 6:45 the clouds got dark and we all knew soemthing was coming in. i came in close and dropped my kite to the water on the edge of the window just in time to get the gust. my kite was flapping around on the edge of the window in the water and dragging me good. i was afraid i couldn't keep my kite down so i released to my o'shit handle. i actually looked around while i had my kite down to see what everybody else was doing, and i see jake 20 feet up in teh air doing a trick. well, i released just in time to catch ryan's kite which he released as jessie came running out to catch my kite. sal got pounded pretty hard. jake and bill tried to ride it out but ended up releasing to safety too. we all came in with stories to tell and grins on our faces. i heard talk that the gust was in the upper 40's if not 50's. the water was definitely spraying off the surface of the lake. Jessie and Arpi got there too late and were jonsin to ride, so they went back out after it calmed down a bit.
all in all, great riding and a great experience. it's getting a bit cold though and i'm anxious for snow. i'd much rather not feel my feet in ski boots than the water.
