Well, where was everybody!? Except for those of you with whom we were in contact all day that were up at Jordanelle and DC... Oh yeah! Man's gotta eat!
We were debating whether to head up to Jordanelle to get some of what was going on up there... But distant memories of steep faces of creamy brown sugar wouldn't leave my mind... Everything looked like a MM19 day... But WHY, was it North at Grantsville/Rush/and almost at Saratoga???!!!
We came over the bluff of Bluffdale, thinking about how my last few MM19 visits were just that, bluffs, more or less... But dust was flyin' in happy valley to the South West, in a HUGE way... We bounced quickly off the freeway and headed straight to the one you can't ignore... Awesome caps as we came around the bend with the Knoll in sight...
I rigged 5.2/95L... Getting on the water around 3PM we planed the entire time; is an understatement... at 4:30 it came through Southwest with even more vengence and the water became even more angry! I rigged down to 4.2M/78L and rode for the next 2 hours fully powered... Strong sustained winds with fierce tails would whip me off of those steep swell carrying me high into the air with sustained floaters down to a soft touchdown... (Most of the time!
Mile Marker 19 served up a menu of Wavy Gravy, Chocolate Swell, Caps of Cocoa, Rolling Hills of Smoothe Mocha, that will continue to rock me to sleep tonight and probably the next night or more. Whatever you want to call it... It rocked!
I'm sure everywhere south of Salt Lake was good today... But when she's good down there at the Knoll... It's hard to beat her... Actually MM19 is probably a dude with all the mess/liter, bugs, guns etc... It's all a non issue when it's this sweet!
I'm sure that Josh Shirley will share the joys of hanging on to the 5.2 for the entire time
What an incredible day... I'm reminded why MM19 is a launch site... Permagrin for me tonght... Top 10 ALL TIME Utah session for me today. The only thing missing was more people there enjoying it with us... Three total were there today.
Conclusion, it's time to find a reliable wind meter for MM19... Provo Airport didn't even smell what was going on just to the southwest!
Oh PS... I don't think the water feels very cold yet.
