10/14 Pineview 13m/Door - What the ...

Seemed like a typical day searching for wind at Pineview. Arrived at Windsurfer beach with some white caps. Windsurfer Bob looked to be having a good time. Marty and Doug were at Stringtown. Thought I stood a better change at WS beach.

Good wind to start. Immediately headed up wind preparing for lulls, made it up to the dam keepers house and then the wind picked up and got weird and gusty. Headed back down to WS, wind was cranking, gust were about all I could handle. Decided to go down to stringtown thinking the wind would be less down there. Couldnt believe it, Pineview had some swell.

Found Marty, Doug, and Bob having a good time. Wind wasnt any lighter down there, and I was beat, so headed back up to WS beach and pulled the plug. Started a little after 2pm and finished just before 4pm. What a day.

Classic is all I can say.
High pressure building, first clear day after storm.
It was cloudy and started to be a ride then walk day.
As soon as the clouds cleared, it was strong and quite consistant.
11M would have been better. But I never take it to PV.
(I concider it a treat to have to much wind at PV)
We Started at Stringtown, and I rode up to windsurf beach.
Talked Bob into a downwinder and we would give him a ride back.
We rode the heck out of the middle of PV.
Les came down also.
The best wind was off the north side of Cemetary Point, there was even some swell building.
Not as strong as WS beach, but more consistant.
It lasted long enough for Bob and Les to ride back up to WS beach.
Sure wish it would set up like that more.

Interesting that Deer Creek didnt have the same effect. I always thought if it did this at PV, that DC would also blow good.

Bob was mostly overpowered on his 7.5

6.0-6.5 and a 90-100l board would have been fun.

(i guess,,,, I'm loosing my WS size memory :-P )

7.5 wound up is a keeper. I'd love a couple rides up there after this next front. Our days on the water are numbered. When is the Texas trip?

Since you work with Jason, and he's going also,
You probably know quit well when we are leaving.
Your just counting the days until you can log on as Jason again,
and say stuff that will stir things up,
and then sign Jason's name to the post.

10/25-11/3 South Padre Island

Myself, Jon, Jason, Brian, Heather, Monica, and some Ozone team riders.
Maybe some friends from the Gorge, and others.
Anyone that can fly down, come kite with us

how do we know that is Jason posting as Carl?

How does everyone get down to Texas? Doesn't seem like there are any direct flights to corpus christi or south padre.

how long is the drive?
Wouldn't it be cheaper to go to la paz?

Windsurf talk, not kite talk, would be the first clue.

For SPI, not direct but, Harlingen is my first choice, then Brownsville, then McCallen.

I use a card to get Continental miles, just for the trips to Texas.

I've been told it's 24 hours driving time, not for me...

Personally, I would not go to Texas for windsurfing when there are stronger wind locals available.
