Pow Mow Snow

Postby Augie » Fri Oct 19, 2007 11:18 am

My friend Scott, who lives at Pow Mow said they only received 6 inches. He also said that it is also kind of warm and melting. More on the way!

The skyline cam is sweet!! Can someone find out where it is and put a wind flag nearby? That would make it all that much better!

We've been looking all summer along the ridge but nobody seems to know its where-abouts. I believe it is powered frm a nearby cabin and must be lower on the hillside. Someday we'll find it and flag it.

I'm working on a long wind sock to hang from a tall dead tree on the main ridgeline, I could see it from my backyard with binos, that would be sweet.

My last post was in regards to the original webcam not the new one... my mistake, I got lost in other open windows and was looking at the wrong bookmark.

This is the weather link for the station with the new camera:
http://www.met.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/ ... gi?stn=sky

The problem with this wind talker is it is behind a hill, the hill blocks all South to westerly readings. Even the NW readings from the last two days have been off as the rotor of the nearby hill constantly throws the meter around.

On the webcam you can see the hill to the left side of the image. The road in front is Hwy 31 around mm 11 or so.

Good news is this is the best location for determining if Skyline is in a white room. Bad news is any flag we place in view will be in full view of all highway traffic, and may be removed by vandals or authorities.

Still, I have a windsock to donate and I will see what kind of luck I have fixing a streamer in view of the camera... it will have to be several hundred feet away to get clean wind.

Killer camera, at least we can wave to each other as kiters drive up to Skyline.
