Surprise session, considering the wind was supposed be switching to the North, which almost never works at DC. And it did go North at about 5:30, after blowing from the SW starting at a little before 1. As is almost always the case when the wind is N along the Wasatch Front and SW over DC, it was very off-and-on, but when it was "on" it was in the mid to high teens. The temperatures didn't quite make Kenny's "100 rule"; air - 43, water - 47. Only cold related problem was a bit of burning in the fingertips, which, surprisingly, went away after a while but returned with a vengeance when I took off my mittens to derig. I can't even imagine going out on a "70 rule" day!
