Hiked past the microwave towers to the top of the ridge to catch the NW wind blowing about 10-12mph. Threaded the needle between the brush while the wind picked up to 15-17mph and shifted to the west. I played for about 3 hours till I hiked out at 3:30. Then I went home and Ptexed a gouge in my ski's. I noticed that Pineview was frozen and the ice builds quickly once it starts to set. I would think that with the temperatures that we have been experiencing it will probably be only a week until it is ready. I usually check the DWR ice fishing report for conditions. Maybe we should try a full moon night kite gathering in a week or two?

The full moon is on the 23rd, but the night illumination should be good within about 5 days of that. We just need a clear night. By the way I found a great selection of chemical glow sticks at Dollar Tree. They even have some that you can twist around something as small as a pencil.
