Strawbs River (aka POWDER river) 1/9 10 Manta II, 8 Access

WOW Arrived 12:30 NW winds 10-15 gusts to 20, put up the 10 Manta II, light was flat but OK, skies slowly cleared and wind slowly picked up, till after about an hour finally had the 10 totally depowered, came in and changed to the 8 Access, perfect for a while then skies slowly clouded back up and wind slowly died after about another hour. Started to snow. Miles and miles of linked turns, small airs and great rides. Awesome way to start the New Year. Just me ???? Powder was super light, some face shots and about 1-2 feet deep over nice soft base. Checked out CC East, snow was bottom less, up to my waist. and wind was 25+, this was around 12:15 or so. Went back to the River as it is usually a little more user friendly. Note to you Gliders, they haven't plowed out CC West.

We were headed there but sticking with the "never leave wind to find wind" cliche, we stayed in PC and rode 9m all day.
Chicken Creek west will not be plowed this year because of budget issues.

AHHH YEESSS Daniel Son... Wise are the water riding wind tribe. True indeed 'Never Leave wind to find wind'....

...But the Snowkiting Grasshopper....' Always leaves flat to find Terrain'.

In the windy world of winter it is a curse... we must search to align the 3 elements... Wind-Snow-Terrain - only then can inner peace be achieved.

You are 100% correct. Terrain is what it's all about. Yesterday, I rode mainly on the Lake, OK, but the day before, on the hills, was epic. I also heard a wise man say " it looked so good out, I left it out all day"
