Jon Manwaring tells me that the spot on the east side of the freeway is the hazardous waste dump. Well that is where we rode today. The deeper snow is really opening the place up. Wind seemed light at the parking lot, but Jake told me to go with my 15M. The wind definitely intensifies as you get near the hills at the SE portion of the riding area. Wind was out of the northwest. Jake showed me a couple very cool terrain features. A natural half-pipe that is about 30 feet across and 12 feet deep and a cool place to glide. You have to thread the a 8' foot wide gap between a couple junipers going up a hill that is around 75 - 100 feet high. You bomb down the hill and when you lift off you swing out over some 10' tall scrub brush. It is a bit disconcerting at first hanging over kite snarling brush, but as you glide downward you land in an open field. I watched Jake do it a couple times and then tried it several times myself. Snow in the area was about 4" over soft pack. It was a quick session as I left work late in the afternoon.
