Locals only movie

Postby Kenny » Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:48 pm

This Friday the forecast looks ideal for Strawberry. I am wondering if anyone would like to join me in the afternoon for some filming. I know that it is the same day as the Superfly event, but the forecast for PowMow is 30% chance of snow, NW winds 23-26 with gusts to 39. The forecast for Strawberry is NW at 20 and partly cloudy skies. If Strawberry doesn't work out, we could always retreat to PC. I have 2 HD video cameras. Anyone interested in filming/being filmed. Let me know. It would be cool to have our own video. I wish I had some footage of Jacob B. at PC on Monday, he was really tearing it up and floating like a bird...

On Saturday, I hope to do some filming and riding at PowMow.

Mike,

PowMow is not so great on a northwest wind, plus 30% chance of snow makes filming less than ideal. Strawberry on the other hand will have partly cloudy skies and 20 mph wind - ideal conditions.

I will go to the Superfly on Saturday.

Ya I think I'm taking the afternoon off and going to Strawbs. The forecast looks INSANE!!! Are they competing on friday or freeriding? What is the event schedule? Can people come to the parties without competing or preregistering? From what I can tell the forecast doesn't look too good for the event. Anyone else have any thoughts on the subject?

Hey Everyone. I'm kinda new to this sport, but have all the equipment I need. I would love to come out and watch and possibly even give it a shot. I've gotten the hang of flying the kite, and am a competent snowboarder, but would like to get the skills to combine them. What time does everyone plan on heading to strawberry, and is there anyway to follow someone up? Thanks!

That'll be perfect. I work right around the american fork freeway entrance. I'll give you a call a little after noon then and find a place to meet up. I hope I won't be too much of a pain as I have really no idea as to what I'm doing. Hopefully you guys are patient. :) And what are the road conditions like getting up there? I don't have the most snow worthy car... Thanks!

The snow at Richardsons flats it so good its hard to drive to strawbs even for me, also since we can just park in that lot and pump and go its so bad ash! I really like the terrain there. Send me a text when you heading out, I have been up since 430 waiting to ride.

Billy,

Richardson Flats is awesome. I love the terrain there as well. I just wish that the scrub oak didn't have such a healthy appetite for the spaghetti bridle lines on my foils. I am kicking myself for not getting my 16M Waroo repaired yet, that kite would be perfect there. I am going to send it off to AirTime so I can ride there without any EBA's!

Strawberry River is going to be sweet today. I have found at least 4 good hills to glide there and the powder will be stacked in the lee areas - can't wait!

Rob,

I will be leaving at 11:30 AM. I will be traveling up Parley's. The roads should be good, the only difficult spot may be the parking lot at Strawberry River. Most of the time it is well-plowed, but the wind today may cause some drifting in the lot. I can give you some tips and pointers, but I will be mainly riding and filming. Don't worry about getting in any one's way. Strawberry River is a huge riding area.
