Best Waroo's

Postby KyrkWright » Sat Feb 23, 2008 9:38 am

I have been watching a lot of Waroo's sell on ebay lately. Many times when you see a large quantity of something selling on ebay it could mean people don't like them so much. I am wondering if some of you could give me some thoughts on what you know of the Waroo's. Do people not like them? I have read a lot of good things about them but see more of that kind of kite on ebay than any other kite. Are people just selling them to get newer one's or do they have things about them that people really don't like?

Thanks.

i'll let Jake chime in a bit more, but i have a waroo, am borrowing two and they seem to work well. they are a well balanced workhorse kite that is extremely reliable. the 06 model had some problems with stitching in the leading edge. i've only seen one blow out and heard about others. i dont' think it is neccessarly something to hinder you from buying though. the 07 kites are better, and the 08 kites rock. i really like how the 08 flys. its much quicker and deeper in the window than the other years. the bar setup is simple and effective although the safety pull has always seemed a little understated in my mind. bridle setup is effective, but there is a lot of bridle. jake has a good mod for the 06 that works extremely well. the others come set up stock good.

anyway, its a well known brand in the states, they are traditionally slightly cheaper than other brands, and they market a lot. i think becuase of these factors, you see a lot of these kites out there. it is perhaps that they work and are a trusty brand that you see a lot of them on ebay. they are super beginner friendly, and yet pros can enjoy them as well. i wouldn't be worried about reliability of these kites, just be sure to ask the question about wear if you purchase one online. i've bought a board and kite online both. both were as stated in the add, but the kite i should have bought newer as i had some issues to fix with it.

I own 7/11/15 '07 waroos. all great kites. very happy with the flying characteristics, go upwind easily, floaty jumps, and they all re-launch easily. construction on them seems to be good - haven't had any problems. Its probably not the best constructed kite out there, and it's certainly not the prettiest, but it flies great and costs several hundred $ less than other brands. That combination makes it one of the best, if not the best selling kite in the US. I think that's why you see a lot for sale on ebay - because so many are sold by the company.
