Rush Lake Update

Postby Jason Klein » Fri Feb 29, 2008 7:38 pm

Had some time to kill today before picking someone up at the airport, so I made the drive over to Rush to see how it was coming along. I'm glad to report that the fence mentioned in the forum a few moths ago is gone. There's nt enough water to kite yet - I waded out to the middle and it's only 6 inches deep at the deepest point. there was a distinct south to north current, tho, so water is flowing in at a pretty good clip. if it stays warm, my guess would be that it would be kiteable in 2 weeks or so. There's still some ice around the edges and the water is pretty cold. didn' have a thermometer, but wold guess the water was @ 40 degrees. Also, the mud around the lake is really soft, so I wouldn' drive down there without 4wd - I almost got stuck on the way out. I've heard some rumblings of people considering Rush for tomorrow - stick to the snow for a few more weeks.
