Nice quicky after work sesh! First day on the water in 08! It was kind of light in the wind department at times. This made me nervouse to get to far out into the lake where the wind looked even better. Had to walk upwind a couple times in chest high water next to the weeds. I did get a few good turns in the small sheltered bay in the nice flat water where I stayed most of the time. I cant wait for it to get back into the 60s or higher. There was ice on my lines when I got out. Drysuit was nice and new set of booties, I could have used a pair of gloves. No time to make the drive to Strawb or I would have been there. How was it?

How is the Launch at LLB or SSB? I am also ready for some water, but with warmer temps. Figured it was good at PC and Strawbs with the North flow, but didn't go for fear of "dust on crust". We need more snow (maybe this weekend) or consolidated corn conditions on the snow surface. Unfortunately, it looks like a return to winter for 10 days plus, according to the "dweeb report". Water will be chilly, hoping for deep enough powder to cover the current icepack out there. Today's Dweeb Report follows..........Whit

GET READY FOR WINTER'S LAST HARRAH!!

MJO HAS NOW CROSSED INTO PHASE SPACE 5 AND HOLDING TOGETHER.....SNAP SHOTS OF "QUIK SCAT 10 METER VECTOR DATA" FROM POLAR ORBITING SATELLITE SHOWING SIGNIFICANT WESTERLY WIND BURSTS NEAR THE EQUATOR...WESTERN PACIFIC.....LONGER RANGE MODELS NOW CATCHING UP WITH CHANGES OUT OVER PACIFIC....THE DWEEBS FORECAST OF WELL OVER A WEEK AGO STILL HOLDS...FOR THE NEXT STORM CYCLE TO BEGIN THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL AND CONTINUE ON AND OFF FOR A GOOD 10 DAYS....

06Z GFS SURFACE CHARTS HAS A NICE DEVELOPING SURFACE BOMB SOUTH AND OFF THE COAST OF JAPAN AT 18Z 3/30/08 SUNDAY. THE LOCATION OF THE SURFACE LOW IS ABOUT 134 EAST AND 24 NORTH. THIS SYSTEM REALLY SPINS UP THROUGH APRIL FOOLS DAY...THE ENERGY THEN PROPAGATES INTO THE EASTERN PACIFIC OVER THE FOLLOWING FOUR DAYS AND GIVES THE EASTERN SIERRA, THE POTENTIAL OF A GOOD STORM APRIL 2ND THROUGH THE 3RD.

I have not made it to SSB yet to check it out. I think I will when it warms up a bit, even if I have to wade out and drift launch or something. The launch at Lindon was not bad with the new sand. There have been a couple of small redneck fires lit in the new sand and the one covered picnic table could get in the way should something go wrong. The wind was kind of weird near the shore. With the hill to the east and the weeds blocking the wind down low. I would say that it might not be the best place for a beginner to launch and not a lot of room for too many kiters. Lets hope that it doesn't catch on as a place to picnic or God forbid a volley ball game!
