3/31 Richardson Flats

Postby Kenny » Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:53 pm

Arrived to decent wind and excellent snow. Rigged a 17 Waroo and rode downwind to the hill. Wind was light, but rideable on the hill and the snow was nice and fluffy. Sessioned the half-pipe for quite awhile, usually I am too powered up to ride it well. Did some low level glides, and managed to botch one and drop my kite. Fortunately, it was only an MBA (Minor Brush Adventure). Pulled the kite quickly out of the brush and took it downhill to launch. However, the wind began to fade fast and died completely when I was in the meadow. Packed up my kite, cranked up my ipod and enjoyed the view as I walked back listening to Rush the whole way. Made for a nice early evening session. Said my goodbyes to Richardson, not sure if I will get another session there this year. It was an incredible snowkiting season at PC this year!

Kenny,
Glad you got a good session at RF with only a MBA. I stayed at the resort and rode powder mostly all day. I too was wondering about the offical name. On the USGS topographic map it is listed as "Richardson Flat", elevation 6,557 feet and then "Clark Ranch" south in the Meadow. So either Ricardson's Flat or Richardson Flats would be appropriate. Not quite Rascal Flatts which is the spelling of the band. By any means, it was an awesome year there with the best coverage in the last five!!!! Whit

It's not Richard's, Richardson's or whatever... it's Radioactive Flats.

I think it is a designated Superfund site that we have turned into a Super fun site!
