Kite Bag for Glide?

Postby Augie » Fri Apr 11, 2008 9:37 am

Do any of you guys know of a kite bag that will fit a Slingshot Glide? It is 149 cm tall and it seems like most bags don't fit something that big. I would prefer one of those fake golf bags if possible.

Augie,
Most , if not all the GOLF type bags will not fit a Glide. Both in length and width. Lots of regular big board bags will but they are not the deceiver type bags because they just look to big to be a golf bag. Marty and I both went to the 146 Misfits for travel. I think I read that Todd had a Crazyfly that Jason K took some place in a golf type bag not sure of it's size

On my recent trip to SPI, my buddy just used his old snowboard bag. He fit my 169 Litewave board, his 139 board and some wetsuits and harnesses. No questions asked leaving or coming back, they just made sure it was under 50 pounds. So if you can't find a golf type bag to work, a snowboard bag might be another good option. I think airlines are just used to snowboard bags flying in and out of Salt Lake, well during the winter at least.
I just got the Dakine Outlaw bag. Fits two kites, two boards no problem. Really happy with the bag but it does only hold boards up to 140. No questions asked with that bag too. Although, on the way back, the check in guy wondered why my "snowboard" bag was covered with sand  It's weird too, looking at the airline info, they charge for kite boards but not wake boards. So I was just planning on saying I had wake boards but was never asked anyway.

Not a Golf bag, since golfing sucks

But Ozone does make a nice kitesurf travel bag that is padded and holds a glide....at least it holds my crazy fly that is the same as a glide, and I believe Marty has packed his Glide in it before. Also holds 3 inflatables along with 1-2 boards harness and a pair of skivvies.

The only thing that golf has to do with kiting, is they are both quiver sports, the more clubs and kites, the more games you can play. I like snow covered golf courses to.... where is this going?

i bought the nsi deciver from jon. i bought the crazy fly cruiser it is 135x 46. it has a flat rocker and is made to ride in light winds, the thing i like about it is it also performs great in higher winds. i rode it in florida in light winds and high winds. it is a real good all around board, this makes it a nice one board travel board. i am a fat 215 . jason is using it now in jamica and he is much lighter.
my 2 cents

Windzup,

I love the bag Brian refered to, but the Glide won't quite fit. My 146 Misfit just barely fits.

Marty,
PUSH harder. I have the 145 Ozone bag and the Glide WILL fit. I have not tried it on the plane as it looks like a board bag. However, it's a great car travel bag. Watch out for weight on any bag, check airlines web site for regulations and limitations.

Thanks for all of the advice. I already have a snowboard bag and I will just throw the Glide in that when i go to Cancun. I like the idea of the fake golf bags and will just look to the future and get one later.
