WOW, DC was heaven. 1st session 1:30-3:30 , then a 2nd 4:00-5:30. I thought it was one of the most steady DC days I've had. Would have liked just a couple of more mph's but all in all a good cruizer. DCJim and his possee and Darksiders Jeff, Kenny, Todd, and Bordy and his Harem Shared the Joy. Jeff and Todd almost had EMA. Maybe again tomorrow but could be too big!! What does Marty's 8 Ball predict?

DC Poletown report Island Beach Friday

DC Jim went the full route, rigged I think from 5.3 to 9.5. Carl thought it was steady, then again a 9.0 w/ Isonic 133 and arms of steel will make DC submit some planers. The Dubockian Trifecta threw all we had at Carl, we were more than one cam short and alas, human.

Our lame game plan was to throw a new Gaastra 7.5 w/ Hypersonic with the fearless uber twin, Trevor. Hoping Carl would slow down to see his reflection in that sail. HyperTrevor is young and will someday learn to pump. but he had at least 4 side to side runs of note. Its one thing to hike Alta's Main Chute and ski the same run as Carl, its another to get caught in the jetwash from Mr. BC at DC.

We disguised Troy in a Gath helmet and a massive, beater, stealth 8.5, thinking that would blanket Carl. He just created his own wake, a mini Miss Budweiser speedboat. Thank god Carl has a muffler on his hull. He's NASCAR and we're Destruction Derby and stuck in reverse.

Someday I hope Trevor and Troy will be sailing DC in 2050 and tell some punk "ya know you aren't fast, nor smooth and you can't touch the mileage of a DC Jim nor the wave slap of Big Carl..".

The wind peaked quickly, and just as quickly started to back off. Judy's 5.0 and my 5.3 really did work at first, but not for long.

In addition to those already mentioned, the poleboard crew included Kevin Simmons, Paul & Angie, and John Freed.

that's too funny John. what an imagination. anyway, the DBock team was getting it good when i got there at 3. they're really carrying their rides well, especially considering how they don't seem to have been out much this season. and jibing too. they are getting some good shots out of the puffs these days. must be the grantsville practice.

the iron man award, as usual, belongs to DCJim who outlasted everyone. he's inspirational.

as Jon noted, it was remarkably consistent. furthermore there was no one out but us, we had the lake to ourselves. it was kind of nice to have the dark siders there, instead of everyone all separated.

the water remains very tolerable although it is losing heat daily as the nights get cooler and the days get shorter. realistically, the season is now measured in weeks. after tomorrow's storm the cold nights and warm days will stoke the DC machinery and we should get a few rides until it just doesn't make as much sense anymore.

Not when snowkiting is just around the corner.

Ya don't have to give up windsurfing and take up kitesurfing,
But when you live in one of the best spots in the world for snowkiting...
It seem a no brainer to me. If ya love the wind, and the snow, then partake of the winter wind also.... Ya know I'm right....

Marty's right (as usual), about the snow kiting thing. And especially good news for our poleboarder friends is that, you only need to get a kite, regular skiis and snowboards work great nothing special here and the really good news is that no BOARDSHORTS are needed over your ski clothes.
JOIN US THIS WINTER, it's much easier to learn the necessary skills on the snow vs the water.

Marty, you are right. The fact is that nothing is better than ripping Utah pow using the power of wind.

Carl and other Windsurfers:

Check out this new form of wind powered snow travel. I would love to see one in action this winter in our Utah powder. Whit Guild
